Abstract: | The talk will touch on some of the technologies that are powering Google Maps and that are more generally in use at Google. Using the example of map-tiles drawing and serving, we'll explore some challenges associated with massive parallel computing, and how Google deals with them to process and serve large amounts of data. |
Speaker Details: | Fabrice Caillette Fabrice Caillette obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester in 2006. For the past four years, he's been working as a software engineer in the Zurich offices of Google, and manages a team working on Google Maps. |
