Title:

Psychological Profiling in Silent Hill (and the future of game AI)

Abstract:

Silent Hill Shattered Memories is the latest offering in the Silent Hill franchise, a bold re-imaging of the original game for a modern audience. Uniquely, this game attempts to take the experience to another level by applying psychologically profiling techniques. This allows us to build an image of the player, which is then used to alter the content and control the experience. This talk goes into the details behind the psychological profiling system and explores the topic of interpreting player input in a broader context, with connotations for future titles and technology. Particularly, we examine the role of AI in driving gaming narrative. IGN Editors Choice Award http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/105/1050951p1.html
