In 2008, 32.8 million bags where mishandled costing $2.9 billions to the industry.
61% of those where transfer bags and 24% were due to simple failure to load on the aircraft.

Speaker Details: Nikolaus Samberger
 

Nikolaus Samberger was appointed Senior Software Development Manager of the Amadeus Altea DCS Customer Management B department in London in August 2005. Nikolaus heads a department of 38 people including business analysts and software developers. His main responsibility is the server side development of the Baggage, Seating, Onload, Regrade, Flight & Lists applications.

Previously, Nikolaus was appointed Unit Manager of the Altea DCS Customer Record team in July 2003. His main responsibility was the synchronisation framework between Amadeus Reservation Record and the DCS record. Nikolaus joined Amadeus in Nice in July 1997 as a software engineer in the ticketing area. In Sep 2000, Nikolaus transferred to London to work on the specifications, design and implementation of the Altea DCS project.

Prior joining Amadeus, Nikolaus was a software engineer at Aerospatiale Industries in Toulouse (France).

Nikolaus graduated with an Engineer's degree from the Institute of Applied Sciences of Toulouse, specialised in Computer science and Electronics.
