Title: No more cams - the growth of software in industrial control and analysis.
Abstract:

Based on 30 years of experience of improving and developing manufacturing processes and products, this talk will follow some of the trends and themes over these years and illustrate these with specific examples. It will also discuss Oxford Instruments latest Analytical Software suite and the opportunities that modern software techniques can offer in the field of high speed scientific analysis and data presentation.

Nigel Salter is Product Development Director for Oxford Instruments Nanoanalysis in High Wycombe. Originally a Mechanical Engineer, he has witnessed and worked with the growth of real time software in high speed control, automation and analytical applications in industries including machine tools, automotive manufacturing and packaging machinery as well as analytical instrumentation. He holds a PhD from the University of Bristol and is a Fellow of both the IEE and the IMechE.
