Prime Services is a revenue business that delivers a financing and custody platform directly to the client. From low latency trading for quantitative hedge funds to custody brokerage for traditional investment managers . a major differentiating factor of Prime Brokerage offerings is the quality of the technology. This talk will provide an insight into how technology delivers this service to clients, what aspect of the technology platform provides a commercial advantage and how Nomura has built a front to back global platform in only three years. It will cover the aspects of organisation, technological innovation, and process that are essential constituents of a successful build.

Richard Jeans is European Head of Prime Services technology for Nomura. Richard graduated from Oxford University having studied Physics then studied at Imperial College gaining a PhD from the Aeronautics department. Following that he spent 5 years in post doctorate research. Having moved into the financial services industry, Richard worked in operations technology at Salomon Brothers, Citigroup and Lehman Brothers. Post the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers, he moved to Nomura where he was part of the team that built the Nomura Prime Brokerage platform in only three years.
