Title: Applications of Computing in Urban Traffic Control (UTC) and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
Abstract:

TfL is responsible for keeping London moving in an as efficient, informed and as safe a way as possible. With multiple modes of transport to consider, and the unique constraints of London as a city, there are myriad ways in which technology and computing can be applied to help build an ITS to achieve this goal. A particular application is the real-time optimisation of traffic flows through TfL's adaptive control system - UTC.

Speaker Details: Stephen Gale

Stephen Gale joined TfL as a graduate in 2006 and has worked on numerous ITS projects including UTC, mapping, digital CCTV and systems integration. He now leads a team of developers working on next generation traffic systems (as well as keeping the existing ones running).
