Department of Computing | Imperial College London |
New users |
Please see our home page for full details of computing services in the Department. Some introductory guides a new user might wish to look at first are:
The college requires that all users in the Department of Computing should complete and sign a form indicating that they agree to the regulations covering computer use. For new students arriving in October each year this will have been done during registration. Members of staff can obtain a copy of the form from CSG, or print it from this web page. The completed and signed form should be returned to CSG, or faxed to 020-7594-8389, and then a computing account will normally be ready for use within twenty four hours. Details can be collected from CSG.
Once a Department of Computing account has been created the user should be able to log in to all departmental workstations running Windows or Linux. Some research groups have their own systems which will require additional authorisation.
A different password will be supplied for college secure web pages, and college computers outside of the department (eg. in the main library).
passwd
To change password on the Windows systems press:
Ctrl-Alt-DelFor information on choosing a sensible password, see the Linux guide.
To change password on the ICT systems (remember: when you activated your ICT account, you got to choose your ICT password), you can go to the College Password Change page.
All users should be aware of these regulations, and realise that
when using the computers at DoC they agree to abide by the rules.
