Alumnus DoC student awarded prestigious Distinguished Engineer and Technical Achievment awards

Dr. Tyrone Grandison
a former PhD student here in the Department of Computing has been awarded two very prestigious awards in the same year. The first being the IEEE's "2010 Technical Achievement Award" and the second being the
ACM's "Distinguished Engineer Award."
The IEEE award was given for Tyrone's pioneering contributions to secure and private data management and the ACM's award was given for his significant accomplishments and impact in the computing field. This is an exceptional achievement and we congratulate Tyrone on his outstanding success.
Tyrone completed his PhD in 2003 and has
since published extensively in the area of secure data management. He is now a Senior Manager at IBM Almaden Research center in the
Intelligent Information Systems (IIS) team in the Computer Science
department at the IBM Almaden Research Center.
His group is focused on
fundamental science in the field of data disclosure management that is
relevant and applicable to industry verticals. The team has pioneered
research in Data Mining, Data Privacy (i.e. Hippocratic Database
technology), RFID Data Management, Privacy-Preserving Mobile Data
Management, Text Analytics and is exploring novel concepts in Content
Management, Storage Systems and Healthcare Management Systems.
