About Imperial College London

Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine was established in 1907 through the merger of the Royal College of Science, the City and Guilds College and the Royal School of Mines. This is also the year in which the College received its Royal Charter.

"Its mission is to deliver world class scholarship education and research in science, engineering and medicine, with particular regard to their application in commerce, industry and healthcare."

Imperial College London enjoys a worldwide reputation as a leading centre for teaching and research in science and engineering. Its faculty comprises 53 Fellows of the Royal Society and 54 Fellows of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Research

Imperial College is consistently recognised as one of the top three UK university institutions for research quality. The college has one of the largest turnovers of any UK university institution. It has numerous collaborations with industry from which it receives substantial funding.

Library

The Central Library and the Science Museum Library are on the South Kensington campus. The Libraries hold around 720,000 volumes and subscribe to a large number of periodicals. Sports Centre

The sports centre on the South Kensington campus has a swimming pool and spa pool, four squash courts, a fitness gym and two outdoor tennis courts for use by students and staff. In addition there are a number of outdoor and sports activities or ganised though the clubs and societies of the Students' Union.

Student Union
