LCD Module to PC Interfacing Example

I picked up a bunch of LCD modules real cheap a while back, so I have been trying different ways of connecting and controlling them. The PC parallel port was the easiest - since then I have moved on to the PIC Microcontroller & BASIC Stamp.

I refer to the Hitachi LM018L because that's the one I got first, but most of this will also apply to any LCD module which incorporates the HD44780 (or compatible) controller.
