The Galápagos . . . a perennial source of new things.
- Charles Darwin, letter to Joseph Hooker

Darwin's work in the late 19th century drew the world's attention to the living laboratory of the Galápagos Islands. Now, in the Education Workbook, you can join writers, photographers and scientists virtually as they explore this same chain of islands.

The Field Team, which includes 12-year-old Tina, will share their discoveries through journals and photographs of the wildlife that they encounter. Pre-registered students become Classroom Correspondents as they investigate animals in their areas, share their findings, and make comparisons to the animals in the Galápagos.

In the Reference section, you will find resources to learn more about islands in general and an introduction to the Galápagos Islands, a glossary and resource materials. This workbook allows you to ask questions, share ideas and collaborate on Class Projects with the Field Team and other students. Younger (and older) students may want to look through the Picture Book for their favorite Galápagos Island animal.

As you travel through the Education Workbook, you can also easily view Virtual Galápagos by using the menu at the bottom of each page of the Education Workbook. If you want to return to the exact page in the Education Workbook from where you jumped to Virtual Galápagos, use the back button on your Web browser, or select Education Workbook to return to this page.

To participate in the discussions and the Class Projects, you'll need to have pre-registered in Classroom Correspondents. When you want to submit your research or join a discussion, you'll be prompted for your user name and password.

Even if you have not pre-registered, you can still view the entire Education Workbook and enjoy learning from the students and the Field Team. You may want to consider joining future TerraQuest adventures for students; keep http://www.terraquest.com in your bookmarks for more information.
