Main Report - Portability

Start : Thursday 5th June 1997
Finish : Tuesday 10th June 1997

This Main Report concludes the Portability research and hence this project (at last!). Here in this final report, we will summarise JAVA and its portability discussed in detail earlier in article1 and article2. This is basically recapping and concluding the language JAVA as a platform-independent language. Also, we will venture briefly to the world of Inferno, an operating system implemented using another platform-independent language, LIMBO, which has a similar behaviour and therefore the capabilities of JAVA. More of this later. We will also discuss the differences of Inferno and JAVA, then a short overview of Micrososft's ActiveX, and finally a final conclusion about Portability and also the WWW.

With this we end our report thanking Mr. Dulay and Susan for their precious time and endless hints and tips (!!!), also for giving us the opportunity to explore the world of JAVA, AcTiveX and Inferno in fascination (huh?). We've enjoyed the research, and we hope all of you will too! Till next time.
