A simple computer is a machine for executing instructions. We will begin by considering a straightforward instruction set:

32 general-purpose registers: Ri
Load/store instructions:
- LW Ri, address
- SW address, Ri
Register-register arithmetic:
- ADD Ri Rj Rk (meaning R1:=R2+R3)
Unconditional and conditional jumps:
- J address
- BEQZ Ri, address
  (meaning if Ri=0 then PC := address)
