Connecting Multiple Nodes

MPP IN usually composed of links and switches.

Basic switch organisation:

Switches connect a fixed number of input channels to a fixed number of output channels; this number is known as the degree of the switch.

Transmitter, link, receiver and buffer coupling form a channel.

A node is connected to a single switch possibly by more than one channel.

Switches route packets from source node to destination node.
