Special Announcement: Summer 1999 and 2001



1999 and 2001 Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year

Henry Styles, a student in Department of Computing, Imperial College, who just completed his BEng Computing course, has won the Misys Award for the Best Computer or Computer Software Student in the 1999 Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year awards.

The award is based on Henry's final-year project, ``A flexible real-time graphics engine", supervised by Dr Wayne Luk. Judging criteria of the award are:
   
overall achievement in project,
   

originality, or uniqueness of project, and

   

relevance of project to Britain's industrial future.

Our warmest congratulations to Henry, who will begin his research studies in the Department of Computing this October.

The Department of Computing acknowledges the support of Celoxica Limited, which provided design tools and student bursaries for Henry's project.

MORE GOOD NEWS, Summer 2001: we congratulate Dong-U Lee, whose project ``Compiling programs for reconfigurable engines" has been selected as one of the three finalists for the Misys Award for the Best Computer or Computer Software Student in the 2001 Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year competition.
