Certificate of Advanced Study in Learning and Teaching (CASALT)

What are the benefits of taking CASALT?

Gives a postgraduate qualification in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

Enhanced ability to design courses, teach, assess and supervise

Recognition of expertise and commitment to teaching

An edge in the academic job market over those without formal qualifications in teaching

Successful completion carries automatic entitlement to membership of the Institute for Learning and Teaching

Is taken part time alongside normal work

What does it Consist of?

Module 1 - the "Core" workshops on learning, teaching and supervision

Module 2 - a personal selection from other educational development workshops

Module 3 - CASALT module

Module 4 - Assessment - observation and project portfolio

Attendance for Module 1 is normally accumulated prior to registration and/ or experience can be accredited. Modules 3 and 4 are taken over a calendar year and require attendance at six afternoon sessions. Attendance at Module 2 may be accumulated both pre- and post- full registration. Supervision is provided for the project portfolio.
