Administrative duties of the Probationary Lecturer
New lecturers do not get an administrative job in their first year. It depends on how their settling in is coming on whether they get one in the second year or not. The kind of admin job normally done by a probationary lecturer is a 'small' one such as a year coordinator or an assistant to one of the larger administrative jobs. It is unlikely that a member of staff will pass probation without having done an administrative job successfully.
Future Administrative Career Paths:
At the end of a lecturers probationary period (and sometimes even during it) lecturers may be expected to carry out other administrative duties, such as being an Admissions Tutor, Course Director or Year Coordinator. Some lecturers who wish to develop their administrative skills further may wish to get involved in College management more widely, perhaps by being appointed to college-wide committees.
