1 Independent Study Options (ISOs). Complete two Independent Study Options assessed by dissertation. (Pass = Average 50% and no less than 30% on any component)   Students are expected to carry out two independent study options in an advanced topic in computer science. 1 Integrated Laboratory These lab exercises are referred to as CBCs (Computer-Based Coursework) and the marks obtained in these exercises are treated as coursework marks. (Pass = Average 50% and no less than 30% on any component)   Student are expected to complete assessed CBC exercise(s) attached to the courses they study. 1 Research Seminar and Skills Course Weekly timetabled session in which students read, present and discuss influential research papers across a broad range of subject areas. 
Two assessed components: 1. A set of short summaries of each paper they have critically read. 2.  A review of the paper the student presented, based on their presentation and the discussion that followed. (Pass = Average 50% and no less than 30% on any component)  
Consists of 22 hours of tutorials and approximately 128 hours of private study and preparation.  150 5 30
1 Individual Project Background paper, individual project, dissertation and presentation. Assessed by Supervisor and second marker. Moderated by  panel.  Graded Pass = 50%+  Merit  = 60%+  Distinction = 70%+ the background paper is a literature survey for the individual project. The purpose of the background paper is to give students a running start on their projects by ensuring that they have read and understood technical material which provides essential background reading.  This should  represent about 60 hours of private study.  The Individual project, disertation and presentation should consists of approx  1000 hours of study. 1060 39 27
