Panic Situations
   
 

Although we have tried to make the error messages explanatory and to provide instant help with various dialogues there will still be occasions when you are stuck. Listed below are some circumstances we have thought of when this might happen and some appropriate action.

Nothing is happening:
  1. This could be because you have not selected enough lines for the rule you are applying. Click reset and try again and if the same situation occurs you can look in the manual to see how a rule should be used.
  2. It could also be a bug in our system - in that case please email panproblems@doc.ic.ac.uk with a snapshot of the situation and we will try to help.

I don't know which rule to apply:

Have a look in Heuristics from the help menu. It gives various hints of how to progress. You can also take a look at Chapters 16 and 17 in Reasoning about programs which can be accessed via http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/pandora/firstyearbook.pdf.
