Our knowledge of Java gave us a good foundation for learning PHP. Many of the concepts and syntax of PHP is very similar to Java. There is a very large and active PHP developer community online which was helpful when we ran into problems with the code.

Learning and using PHP was simple and provided us with a quick and efficient way of oraganising the website. Unlike Javascript it will not compile the code unless the syntax is correct, which helps identify errors more easily.
