Pranava Madhyastha

Profile I am a Research Fellow at the Department of Computing in Imperial College London. Previously, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Sheffield NLP working with Lucia Specia and the MultiMT group. I obtained my PhD from Universitat Polit├Ęcnica de Catalunya, Barcelona (UPC) under the supervision of Xavier Carreras and Ariadna Quattoni. I was also a visiting student at Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago.

My research revolves around Multimodal Machine Learning and Representation Learning on Natural Languages for tasks such as Multimodal Machine Translation, Syntactic Parsing and Grounding. I am also passionate about causality and interpretability of machine learning algorithms. In the recent past, I have worked on learning representations using low-rank tensor based models for natural languages.
