Title: Why sports forecasters like us need programmers like you
Abstract:

ATASS Sports is a successful Exeter-based statistical research company specialising in the forecasting of sports. Recently the company has undergone significant expansion, with the research team growing fivefold in less than five years. In this talk, we give a flavour of some of the work we do, and highlight the essential role that programmers and computer scientists play in our success.

Speaker Details: Dr Tim Paulden

Tim studied for five years at Cambridge (gaining an MMath and PGCE), before moving to Exeter in 2003 for a maths PhD. After completion he joined ATASS Sports as a Statistical Modeller in 2007, before being appointed as Innovation and Development Manager in 2011. A key component of Tim's role is to act as an interface between the statistical researchers and the IT development team.
