Title: | XenServer and the Performance Challenges in Cloud Computing |
---|---|
Abstract: | Citrix XenServer is an open-source, enterprise-ready, cloud-proven virtualisation platform that contains all the capabilities required to create and manage a virtual infrastructure. Many cloud providers such as Amazon EC2, Rackspace and 1&1 are based on the Xen hypervisor. This talk will present a quick overview of XenServer and live demos of its main functionality. It will then discuss how enterprise hardware is evolving and the performance-related challenges that arise from it. The talk is intended to be both informative and to give a flavour of the work environment in R&D positions in the industry. |
Speaker Details: | Felipe Franciosi Felipe has been a Software Performance Engineer at Citrix since October 2011, where he works on XenServer Storage Virtualisation. Previously, he finished a PhD at Imperial College London on a very related subject (performance of virtualised storage). His interests regarding computing also include distributed systems, computer networks and high performance computing to name but a few. |
