Title: Creating an HTML5 Gaming Platform
Abstract:

Enabling a new generation of games playable online with a single click, the Turbulenz team, with their background in console game development, have created a powerful HTML5 game engine & platform built using modern web technologies. Ian will expose the inner workings of the Turbulenz Engine, how APIs such as WebGL give developers access to the GPU and other hardware and how games go from prototype to product on a web-based publishing platform. He'll also discuss how traditional game development is strengthened by the flexibility and freedom of web development. The challenges, the lessons learnt: all will be revealed, along with code examples, showing how it fits together. No game development experience required, this talk is aimed at students interested in the games industry and who are also curious about what HTML5 has to offer.
