Title: Understanding customer behaviour in online retail

The talk will explore how THG use its technology platform and data to understand customer behaviour and thus power commercial decisions from online merchandising through to buying product and digital marketing.

The Hut Group is an online retailer that uses its proprietary platform to operate more than 30 websites selling products including fashion, entertainment, and health and beauty goods, as well as compiling data on consumer behaviour. Chief executive Matt Moulding and chief financial officer John Gallemore founded the Cheshire-based group in 2004, and current backers include former chief executives of Marks & Spencer and Tesco alongside Balderton Capital and Artemis. Organic growth coupled with acquisitions grew sales 81% a year from 24million GBP in 2008 to 142million GBP in 2011.
