Title: Using technology to increase the impact of Parliament
Abstract:

Parliament sits at the heart of UK democracy. Parliament examines what the Government is doing, makes new laws, holds the power to set taxes and debates the issues of the day. Information Technology has been central to the workings of Parliament for hundreds of years, from scrolls to the printing press and now the web. Whilst Parliament has its traditions it is a constantly changing and fast moving environment driven by events that affect us all. This talk will look at how we use technology to increase the impact of Parliament and its place in the UK democratic system. It will cover off open data and the power of information and accessibility.
