Title: Move fast and break things - but not your API!
Abstract:

GoCardless is an ambitious, fast-moving tech startup. We.re wired to constantly iterate our products - ship early then tweak, adjust, and improve every day. But we work in payments: thousands of businesses are relying on us to handle millions of pounds of their money, and much of this is through our API. How do we move fast and break things without leaving these companies unable to do business?

We've just launched our second API, for GoCardless Pro, and we've done things differently this time. This talk will focus on what we.ve learned from our three years of building and maintaining APIs, and why sometimes even we need to slow down and get it right first time.

Speaker Details: Harry Marr and Pete Hamilton

Harry is CTO at GoCardless. He joined as the first technical hire so has been around since the very early days - he's led development since day one and now heads up our 15-strong engineering team.

Pete is a recent Imperial graduate - he was President of DoCSoc last year and spent his industrial placement at GoCardless, then returned to us immediately after finishing his studies to join our backend engineering team.
