Title: Challenges, Innovation and Technology at Skyscanner
Abstract: Have you ever thought about how air travel planning works? It sure sounds easy when you search for your flights in your favourite travel search engine and in a couple of seconds you have in front of you all the available choices with their prices. But how do the search engines like Skyscanner do this? What are the difficulties they face? What technologies and what algorithms do they employ? What's the computational complexity of the simple task of finding the best route/price for your flight? This talk discusses all these and introduces you to Skyscanner, a leading global travel search internet technology company with a culture of continual innovation.

Claudiu Iorgulescu is a full-stack software engineer and technical manager at Skyscanner. Starting as a database engineer at a small Danish-Romanian company, he continued then into web development for one of the best Romanian online agencies, Green Pixel. He then tackled the world of live video streaming before moving into the online hotel meta-search engines at fogg.es. He is now a technical manager and team leader at Skyscanner, helping million of users find their flights and favourite hotels for their holidays or business trips.
