Title: Data Engineering in the Real World
Abstract:

Over the past 20 years, the volume and complexity of data that software can and has to manage has increased exponentially. Many real-world applications are either algorithmically simple or algorithmically solved, but data complex. Processing power has increased massively, software tools and processes have changed hugely (mainly for the better), we have better abstractions and libraries, but the data problem is often overlooked. Using examples from encryption and finance the talk will look at the complexity of data engineering in the real world and some approaches to manage it.
