Title: Location Detection for Social Media Data
Abstract: Social media data comes with a smorgasbord of metadata that can give clues about what country and region content has been posted from. This talk will cover some of the methods Brandwatch use to convert this semi-structured data into a searchable (and aggregable) place, the compromises necessary to do this at a massive scale, and where we see this area of technology going in the future.
Speaker Details: Rob Stanley

Rob Stanley is VP Engineering (Platform) at Brandwatch. This involves the gathering, processing, storing, and searching, of very large amounts of web and social data. He's been involved in the data gathering side of the company for four years, as a Java developer and team lead prior to the current role.
