Title: Cloudant: Bringing DBaaS to IBM
Abstract: Cloudant was founded in 2009 by 3 MIT physics graduates. It was early to both Cloud and NoSQL buzzwords. The company grew to 5 locations and 1000's of customers before being acquired by IBM in 2014. The talk will cover the transition from academia to start up life, the transition from start up to IBM and some of IBM's Cloud strategy.

Simon Metson, Product Manager @ IBM Cloudant For 10 years Simon worked at Bristol University, solving problems relating to managing 10s of petabytes of data replicated over 100 of sites for the Large Hadron Collider project at CERN. In 2012 he moved into the start up world by joining Cloudant, acquired by IBM in 2014. He lives in Bristol.
