| Abstract: | Amazon Instant Video (AIV) is one of the world's biggest TV platforms. Here in London a dedicated team is responsible for building the web, mobile applications and back end services across a huge range of devices and consoles on which to stream AIV content. This talk will focus the evolution of AIV in the UK (formerly Lovefilm) and the technical challenges encountered in bringing such a service to market, along with consideration of new product launches such as the PS4, Xbox1 and Fire TV. Before joining Amazon James was the co-founder and CTO of Pushbutton which was acquired by Amazon in 2011. James now heads up the engineering teams at Amazon responsible for Smart TV.s, Games Consoles and Set top boxes. . Ricky Leatham, Software Development Manager, Amazon Instant Video. . Ricky manages two client application teams, building Amazon Instant Video's user interface for devices including games consoles, connected TVs and Bluray players. He started at Amazon as a software engineer before moving into management, and prior to that worked at an online gaming startup building web apps for live betting. In a previous life Ricky was a web designer and design team manager, and believes an eye for user interface design and visual polish is an important skill in front end software engineering. Ijaz Akram. Senior Manager Software Development, Amazon Instant Video. Ijaz joined amazon in March 2012 as senior manager, tech programme management. Ijaz drove the delivery of Amazon instant video applications on PS3/PS4/Xbox 360/Xbox One/ Wii and Wii U in addition to other smart TVs and connected devices. Currently Ijaz is a senior manager, software development heading up client engineering teams across London and Bangalore. |
