Title: Shipping code changes to millions of mobile users
Abstract: At SwiftKey, when the Android keyboard app is updated, millions of users get the update within hours. Steve Spence, VP of Engineering, will describe aspects of how code, test, release and monitor are done, so that the net result of these updates is beneficial. He will highlight some of the differences between mobile application development and Cloud development. He will also share an example where it didn’t go right and some lessons learned.

Steve Spence, VP of Engineering at SwiftKey: Steve studied BSc Physics at Bristol University and then went on to do a D.Phil Mathematics at Oxford University. He joined SwiftKey in 2014, and was previously at Google for 8 years. Steve has a wealth of expertise, having worked in a variety of large and small software companies throughout his career, and currently running a world class development team at SwiftKey. Recently named as 'Top Apps of 2014' by both Google and Apple, SwiftKey employ smart, creative engineers working across many software platforms and it is Steve's responsibility to create an environment where they can work at their best.
