Short Bio
I am a Ph.D student of Computer Science and Engineering at University of New South Wales (UNSW, Australia). Currently, I am in the Database Research Group, supervised by Prof. Xuemin Lin. Meanwhile, I am also affiliated with Ph.D research program at National ICT Australia (NICTA). I received my B.Sc in Applied Mathematics in 2006, and my first Ph.D in Control Theory in 2010, both from Donghua University (DHU, China).
I started my teaching career as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Applied Mathematics when I was a student at DHU in Jul. 2006. During 2007-2009, I worked as a Casual Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Shanghai University of Engineering Science. Since 2009, after a one-year visiting scholar at UNSW, I began my second Ph.D in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, and served as a Teaching Assistant at UNSW. My teaching tasks include casual lecturing, tutoring, marking, and lab demonstrating, which covers a wide range of CS courses at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. I also supervised /am supervising a number of undergraduate students for their projects and thesis, and got their works published in international conferences. One of their works also won the Best Student Paper Award. I am currently the ACM student member, IEEE student member, and reviewer of many prestigious CS conferences and journals.

Research Expertise
My major research areas are information retrieval and stochastic calculus.
- In information retrieval, my particular interests include web data management, graph databases, hyperlink analysis and social networks, and IR theory (complexity and scalability).
- Stochastic calculus is a branch of mathematics that allows a classic theory of integration to be defined for integrals of stochastic processes.
It is widely used to model systems that behave randomly. In this area, I mainly focus on stochastic control and filtering theory, backward stochastic differential equation, and Itô calculus.
