• I hold a PhD from the Department of Computing, Imperial College London, UK, and a laurea degree in Computing (summa cum laude) from Pisa University, Italy.
• I have spent several periods visiting a number of institutions, notably
  the Laboratory of Informatics Paris Descartes (LIPADE), Paris, Frances (in 2012, as a Visiting Professor),
  the Computing Department at Pisa University (from June 2003 till September 2004, as an adjunct associate professor under the Italian programme "Rientro dei Cervelli"),
  the Department of Computing, Universidad Nacional del Sur, Bahia Blanca, Argentina (in April 2000, as a guest postgraduate lecturer),
  the Department of Electrical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (from April till November 1996, as a research fellow under the EU programme "Human Capital and Mobility"), and
  the Fujitsu Laboratories at Kawasaki, Japan (from September till November 1993, as a visiting researcher). 
• I have been programme chair for KR 2018, ICLP 2015, CLIMA VI and CLIMA VII, TAFA-11 and AT2012 .
• I have coordinated the EU-funded projects SOCS (see here for a short description) and ARGUGRID (see here for a short description), and participated, as workpackage leader, in the desMOLD EU project (2012-2015).
• I was the sole investigator of the EPSRC project TRaDAr (2012-2016) and I co-investigator and technical director of the ROAD2H project also funded by EPSRC (2017-2021).
• I was awarded a Senior Research Fellowship by The Royal Academy of Engineering and the Leverhulme Trust (2006-7) and an Engineering X Pandemic Preparedness grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering (2020).
• I was a member of the management committee and chair of WG4 on Argumentation and Negotiation for the Agreement Technologies COST action (2008-2012), and a founding member of the steering committees of CLIMA and COMMA.
• I was co-director of the UKRI CDT in Safe and Trusted AI (2018-2021)
• I am a member of the BCS, IEEE, ACM and AAAI, and a EurAI fellow.
