Short-Term Research Internships

[I often receive many applications, please follow the instructions at the bottom to ensure I respond to your email]

We have various opportunities, depending on your current degree and institution.

While I might have a few existing internship ideas, I prefer to build a project together based on my current research and your interests.

Undergraduate and MSc research internship (UROP - UK students)

The department has a scheme called UROP that funds paid research internships for undergrad and MSc students (BEng and MEng) during the summer term. UROP internships typically last between 8 and 12 weeks, and you can apply if at least one of the following is true:

  • you are a student from a university in the UK, or
  • you are a UK national.

You can read the main informational page and a list of existing UROP projects, here:

Additional information about the UROP programme:

Undergraduate and MSc research internship (non-UK students)

If you are an undergrad or MSc student, but do not qualify for the UROP program, you have three ways of applying:

  • Through the Erasmus program at your home university
  • Through the IROP program with select universities across the globe.
  • As a visiting student.

For the last option (visiting student), you should check if your university has an internship programme that will cover the costs of the visit. Otherwise, we should discuss if a remote internship would be interesting and make sense for both of us. Only in exceptional cases, where a student is very talented, I might have alternative funding for the internship.

PhD research internship

If you are a PhD student and would like to come here to do a research collaboration with me, you should check what resources are available at your university. There also are other resources such as the HiPEAC collaboration grants. In some cases, I might have alternative funding for the internship.
