Undergrad and MSc Projects

If you want to apply for an individual final-year project, or for a group project under my supervision, please have a look at the department’s project portal (Imperial login required). You can search for “Vilanova” on the Proposer search field to see the projects I have published.

If you want to apply with me, we should schedule a meeting to discuss our mutual goals for the selected project(s). The best way to ensure you are assigned a project is to carefully read the proposal and relevant background material, and prepare a list of questions you want to ask during the meeting. During our meeting, I would like to learn what type of project you are looking for, your technical and academic interests, as well as any relevant previous experience that you might have (especially if related to the type of project you want to pursue). With all of this information, we should be able to find a suitable project together.

Some of these projects are of an open-ended, research nature with the potential to grow into a peer-reviewed publication. Such projects are particularly suited to students who want to pursue a research-oriented career on either academia (e.g., through a PhD) or industry (e.g., in a research and development team).

I am also open to discussing changes to the proposed projects. In some cases I might also accept projects entirely proposed by you, but you will have to provide a strong case describing the problem you want to solve, its importance, and how you think you can bring new analyses, ideas or solutions to it.
