| These are the workstations available in the teaching labs. Please note that timetabled lab and tutorial sessions have priority over all other uses; details are usually posted on the door of each of the rooms, if not, please check the room timetables. | |

| The workstations are either dual boot 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7 and 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 Linux (all PCs in 202 and 206), or have Linux with a Windows 7 virtual machine (all PCs in 219). There are 12 graphics project machines in the central circle of 219, plus 6 Macs running MacOS X in 210. ||<tablewidth="100%"rowbgcolor="#cce9e3"10%> Lab ||<22%> Hostnames ||<33%> Model (CPU) ||<5%> RAM ||<8%> Disk || OS || || 202 || ~+`pixel[01-44]`+~ || HP Compaq dc8200 || 8GB || 500GB || Dual || || || || Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz || || || || || 206 || ~+`texel[01-38]`+~ || HP Compaq dc8300 || 16GB || 1TB || Dual || || || || Intel Core i7-3770 3.40GHz || || || || || 206 || ~+ `cider[01-06]` +~ || Apple iMacs (maintained by ICT) || || || MacOS X || || 210 || ~+`line[01-34]`+~ || HP EliteDesk 800 G1 TWR || 16GB || 1TB || Linux || || || || Intel Core i7-4770 3.40GHz || || || || || 219 || ~+`ray[01-40]`+~ || HP EliteDesk 800 G1 TWR || 16GB || 1TB || Linux || || || || Intel Core i7-4770 3.40GHz || || || || || 219 || ~+`corona[01-41]`+~ || HP Compaq dc8300 || 16GB || 1TB || Dual || || || || Intel Core i7-3770 3.40GHz || || || || || 219 || ~+`edge[01-28]`+~ || HP Compaq dc8200 || 8GB || 500GB || Linux || || || || Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz || || || || || 219 || ~+`graphic[01-05]`+~ || HP Compaq Z600 || 8GB || 500GB || Linux || || || || Intel Xeon E5606 2.13GHz || || || || || 219 || ~+`graphic[06-10]`+~ || HP Compaq Z420 || 16GB || 1TB || Linux || || || || Intel E5-1620 v2 3.70GHz || || || || || 219 || ~+`graphic[11-12]`+~ || HP Compaq Z620 || 16GB || 1TB || Linux || || || || Intel E5-1620 v2 3.70GHz || || || || == General notes: == |

| * At some times, the `graphic` machines may be allocated to specific students for project use - if so the affected machine(s) will not be available for general access. * The `texel` and `corona` machines use on-board Intel graphics. * The `edge` and `pixel` machines feature discrete AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics cards. * The `line` and `ray` machines feature discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 630 graphics cards. * The `graphic` work-stations are fitted with more-advanced, Nvidia CUDA-capable or AMD OpenCL-capable graphics cards. * The configuration may vary slightly from the above on some machines. * All systems have flat panel LCD colour displays, and are networked via 1Gb/s Ethernet. * The edges, coronas and rays are single-boot Linux. Windows is normally available as a virtual service on these machines. * All HP systems in Rooms 202 and 206 (pixels and texels) are dual-boot Linux and Windows. * See the Linux services page for information on remote login. == Special Test software/services == * Wayne Luk's Custom Computing group have node-locked licenses for the Maxeler FPGA Hardware Compiler (see the Maxeler website) to run on some lab machines. The software itself lives in /vol/cc, and is intended to be used for MSc projects and practicals for the Custom Computing course, please email Wayne Luk for more information. |
