Email: IMAP/SMTP Client Settings
Mozilla Thunderbird is preconfigured for all users in their Windows, Linux and Mac OS X accounts in the Department -- this is our recommended mail client. On your laptop, outside the Department, or if you choose to use another mail client, here are the settings you will need.
Reading/Incoming Email
You should enable IMAP over SSL to ensure that your password is kept secure. Unencrypted IMAP is not supported and may be withdrawn.

Sending/Outgoing Email
We recommend using SMTP authentication with TLS enabled. Within DoC, unauthenticated SMTP to port 25 is permitted. Outside DoC, port 587 can be used to connect with TLS and authentication if port 25 is blocked.
