Alongside this, I am also responsible for helping other Hall Seniors plan and deliver their events where required.
In this role, I also help with other tasks such as hosting sunday breakfasts as well as summer barbecues.
Commonwealth Games Assistant
University of Birmingham
During the summer of 2022, I was working as part of a team for the Common Wealth Games, with a specific focus on the Shackleton accommodation in the University of Birmingham.
Our team's aim was to ensure that the High-Profile athletes attending can enjoy themselves in a safe, warm and welcoming environment, this was achieved through various housekeeping tasks and also extended to ensuring the cleanliness of the local park 'Vale Village'.
I also did some work in the kitchen as a Porter, ensuring that the athletes are catered to.
Over the course of the Commonwealth Games, I picked up a wide variety of skills due to the nature of my work, I feel that this experience helped me develop upon myself as an individual.
Pharmaceutical Assistant
Boots Pharmacy, Birmingham
In 2018, I undertook work as a Pharmaceutical Assistant for Boots Pharmacy.
In this role, I was mainly in charge of ensuring the general cleanliness of the store as well as replenishing stock, I was also tasked with aiding customers where required.
I was also given other tasks such as unloading pallets and unloading pallets of various medicine.
This experience helped me understand the inner workings of the retail in both the pharmaceutical as well as the retail industries.
Extracurriculars
Basketball
Since secondary school, I had a passion for basketball and wished to pursue it, this led to me joining my secondary schools' basketball team, playing a key role as a shooting guard.
I was able to play beyond an amateur level, having matches against other schools, and even some sports colleges.
Piano
I also started practicing the Piano in secondary school, having one-to-one sessions over the course of 3 years, attaining a grade 4 in 2020.
Due to my proficiencies in playing the Piano, I was also able to perform as part of winter and summer concerts, even playing for my school's leavers assembly.
Muay Thai
Over the course of many years, I have also learned the art of Muay Thai, a martial art specialising in the usage of footwork.
Towards the end of my years of practicing Muay Thai, I had started to take part in interclub matches, performing the martial arts in front of a vast audience.
The fruit of my labour paid off, earning me multiple trophies and belts as a reminder to the many years of hard work and dedication to the art.
Volunteering
STEMM Academic Representative for Computing
Imperial College London
I am currently working as a STEMM Academic Representative for Computing, where my main role is to help freshers in my degree course, mainly with academics, but also with other areas such as time-management and planning.
Prior to the start of the year, I was tasked with creating a freshers' handbook for my course, this included general advice for the year as well as an overview of the course and its modules.
I believe that this handbook was effective as it was a compilation of advice that current students wish they had before starting their course.
Alongside this, I am also responsible for hosting lectures, both in person and remote, in order to help these students in various modules in order to prepare them for their summer examinations.
I am also a part of my universities' ISOC, working as a sponsorship representative.
Here, my main role is to contact companies and alumni alike in order to raise money for orphans across the world.
I am also tasked with providing new and innovative methods for fundraising in order to make the current charity week more successful than ever.
House Captain
King Edwards VI Handsworth Grammar School for Boys
During my years in secondary school, I took on the role o a House Captain, responsible for ensuring the well-being of students in my house.
One of my duties as a House Captain were to deliver assemblies on a monthly basis in front of a vast audience for students of all ages.
I was also tasked with finding ways to improve the school experience for students, this required frequent communication with students of all years in order to ensure that these changes would affect everyone, rather than a particular subset of the community.
